Feature Four: Self Portrait, a capture of a moment of your life
Magnapoets announces a special feature for the upcoming January 2012 issue. The theme is “Self Portrait”. We're asking poets/artists to send in either photos, art, essays, poetry, or short stories that somehow describe themselves, or a moment of their lives, either in symbolic terms or as specifically as they choose . We're not looking for entire life stories, just small snippets or self portraits, if you will. Work can be as loosely or as closely interpreted as each individual poet/artist chooses. Poets and artists can submit to both the special feature, and the regular portion of the magazine. Just be sure to mark your special feature submisison as "Self Portrait", and your regular submission as "Magnapoets" in the subject line.
Feature Three: Poet-Speak, the art of the self-interview - by invitation only
Magnapoets announces the return of Poet- Speak, arguably our most popular feature from our early blogging days. This time, we bring it back with a twist:Poets will be asked to do a self-interview of sorts, in article form. The first half should be biographical information as way of introduction, and the second half should be about any topic relevant to poetry from the author’s point of view. Poets will be asked to think of five questions to ask themselves, without revealing what those questions are. Then they will be asked to answer those questions, in essay form. Word limit 500-1500 words. This feature is by invitation only.
Feature One: The Proust Questionnaire - now closed
Take the Proust Questionnaire
If you’d like to take part in the Magnapoets’ Proust Questionnaire feature, simply answer the questions at the end of this section, and send them to Magnapoets AT Gmail DOT com. Be sure to include a short bio (no more than three-sentences), along with a photo (the latter is optional). Magnapoets will assemble a supplementary booklet to be sent with the July 2011 issue of as many responses as we can reasonably include. Submissions open now til February 1st, 2011.
