just a quick one to release some angst about this summer - extremely soggy here, but at least the temps are being kept down a little.

Awww, I felt that way yesterday, too!
This really works.

I like this for expressing the frustrations of what I always imagine as a perfect summer following a long winter, only to rediscover the mosquitoes, rain, heat, etc. And, there's the psychological message ... the sense that something is off for you in more ways than just the rain ... being spat on is quite strong. Maybe I'm reading too much in on that aspect, though.

Thanks v. much, Ray, for the thoughtful comments. You're not necessarily reading too much into this. I wrote this in an impromptu way -- more rain this summer than I can ever remember and, then, when I was taking a brief walk "in the sun" one morning, it literally felt like the breeze was "spitting" on me. Perhaps there is/was a certain level of general angst involved too. Yes, "spit" is strong, but I thought I'd leave it up to readers to read in what they'd prefer to read in.
