This is one of my long-term favorites, eric. Did I first read it in Carolyn Thomas's Heron, and was it on a bookmark, too?

peggy: i have unfortunately lost all my records of my older poetry, in fact, if i hadn't posted this on my blog in '05 i would have lost the poem as well. . . . but i do believe you're right on both counts now that i think about it. Thank you. I'll add Heron to its publishing track record.
