my knight,
your perfection’s gleam
enticed me;
now I thank you often
for charming someone else

         

          long dark hair
          tossed until it's tangled;
          I use it
          to sweep up the crumbs of me
          you've failed to notice


single again
she reads alone at night
the book of her heart
now closed
until further notice

I'm amazed at what poems, not written as a sequence, read like when they're put together. These are a fantastic little set!

(The second one still makes me laugh, though, for GOOD reasons. :) )
