my
knight,
your
perfection’s gleam
enticed
me;
now
I thank you often
for charming someone else
long dark
hair
tossed until it's tangled;
I use it
to sweep up the crumbs of me
you've failed to notice
single
again
she
reads alone at night
the
book of her heart
now
closed
until
further notice
above tanka in MET and Fire Pearls; Megaera and Fire Pearls; and red lights and Fire Pearls.
I'm amazed at what poems, not written as a sequence, read like when they're put together. These are a fantastic little set!
(The second one still makes me laugh, though, for GOOD reasons. :) )

"long dark hair" is potent, Janet.

Oh! What a heartbreaking beauty this tanka is,
the few words tell so much about the relationship
and the feeling of this woman's heart. Brava!
