Submissions are still open for the Magnapoets anthologies, but are not yet open for the January 2009 print issue of the magazine. Please hold off on submitting anything for the journal until October 1st.
For the anthologies, the guidelines are as follow:
1.) There are two anthologies this year: spring/summer and autumn/winter.
2.) You may submit up to ten haiku or tanka per anthology. No other forms will be considered for these particular anthologies.
3.) Send your submissions to Magnapoets AT Gmail DOT com. Be sure to put "Spring/Summer Anthology" or "Autumn/Winter Anthology" in your subject line.
4.) The anthologies will be perfect-bound, soft-covered.
5.) A one-dollar honorarium will be paid per accepted poem
6.) Submissions close September 30th, 2008.
Regarding the submissions to the print journal, Magnapoets, guidelines can be found here.
I've gotten a number of emails asking how we manage the journal, and why we can't take submissions for a longer period of time. Here's the schedule: 1.) reading period from October 1-31, 2008. 2.) Decisions made by various editors and notifications sent out by mid-November. 3.) Mid-November - December, the magazine is designed, formatted, and sent off to the printer. 4.) Magazines arrive for proof-reading mid-December, finalized and mailed out by the end of the month. 5.) Magazines should arrive anywhere from early January 2009 to late January 2009, depending upon what part of the world you're in.
To those who want to know if the July 2008 issue of Magnapoets is still available, the answer is yes. You can order your copy by following the instructions here.
Regarding email messages, I have whittled the 600-and-so down to 155. If I haven't gotten to yours yet, be patient. I'm trying! :)
